So come join me, the Naish Team and the Windsurfing Magazine staff at Punta San Carlos, Baja with SoloSports Adventure Holidays for a week of wave and freestyle instruction.  Learn the basics of wave riding or fine  tune your top turn, while learning some freestyle skills to take home and impress your local crowd.  I had my first San Carlos session at the age of 16 and have been coming back every year since.  "PSC is like a skate park for windsurfers, you could not have designed it any better." 

I will be joined by Bernd Roediger and a few other good friends to round out all aspects of windsurfing/SUP expertise and max out the fun.

Punta San Carlos, Baja  - A land of enchantment with all the adventure you can handle

Punta San Carlos is a beautiful remote pristine coastal desert wilderness nestled on the rugged Baja California Coastline of the Pacific.  It has long been a desired destination for the adventurer.  First discovered by surfers  then rediscovered  in the early 1980's by California windsurfing pioneers, this diverse wave sailing destination became known as  "world class"  by pros and amateurs alike.  Noted for being windy and an excellent arena for learning the skills of wave sailing it soon began to appear on the "gotta sail" short list of wave sailing destinations most desired by windsurfers.  As there were no amenities, visitors had to "rough it".  Your host SoloSports, an early pioneer to the area, knows this first hand.  Over time they were able to become the property managers and have built a luxury campo allowing adventurers to experience all that is Punta San Carlos in comfort and style instead of the trials and inconveniences of remote camping. 

Your first day

Your all inclusive holiday begins with your private plane flight from Brown Field - San Diego directly to the front door of the SoloSports Campo in Punta San Carlos.  Along the way there is much to see as your pilot will hug the Baja coastline.  Scenes of beautiful secluded beaches and rugged mountains that fall into the sea will make the 2 hour flight seem like minutes.  Don't forget your camera.  When you arrive at camp our staff will assist you with your luggage and help you get settled in your deluxe camping accommodations.  Lunch will be served and afterward our staff will introduce you to all our staff and guests .  A camp tour will get you  acquainted with all the camp amenities and give you an overview of our camp setup.  Next comes your demo gear selection and then your off to the water, a mountain bike ride or other activity.

 Your day, your way

The day starts at sunrise but if you're a late riser, no problem. The smell of a sumptuous breakfast and coffee is a great way to wakeup.  Most guests prefer to surf, SUP, jog/walk, mountain bike or take it easy with a hot cup of coffee and a good book or conversation.  After breakfast, your hosts may invite you to participate in a special event of windsurfing instruction.  Usually around noon the wind comes up and it's a tough decision to eat lunch or hit it first.  The beauty of staying with SoloSports is that their is always something to do.  Until the wind fills in, there is a multitude of other activities to fill the time.  That's why we're known as Baja's ultimate multi-sport destination.

After a workout on the water, a dusty single-track trail or just chilling on a lounge chair with a good book, it's time for a shower.  SoloSports provides one private hot shower a day in the comfort our Baja style  locker room. Our staff will make your shower to your own specs...from blazing hot to relaxing warm and for those Spartans...icy cold.. 

Early evening our Chili-Bomb Cantina opens for happy hour.  The Chili-bomb Cantina & Solace Lounge area is truly the gathering place for most guests.  This well stocked bar is sure to please the most discriminating of guests.  Beer, wine & a large assortment of distilled spirits is guaranteed to keep things lively.  After a full day that may encompass 3 or more activities, the bar becomes a stage as guests celebrate their triumphs and lick their wounds.  It is also the home of the Baja Fog - a ceremonial libation consisting of Tequila - Beer & Lime.  You've got to try at least one - it's a camp tradition.  In the early evening, appetizers are served at the bar. It can be a special treat if our local fishermen have a good day. You will most likely enjoy fresh crab prepared & served  by the local fisherman that caught them.  The dinner bell chimes at about 8PM and we all join in a hot buffet style dinner. Campo SoloSports has an on-site local cooking staff specializing in local and American fare.   Your scheduled meal service includes a hot breakfast, lunch and 3 course dinner.  If  you have special food requirements let us know prior to your arrival.  Don't plan on losing weight on this trip, imagine your week with us as a land based cruise ship with no bar tab.. 

After dinner there is the option of sending out that last e-mail , catching a movie in the activity room be it sports or drama or catching a night cap at the bar. Because the bar area in located near your sleeping quarters, we wind things down at about 10PM.  That's one hour past what we call "Baja Midnight".  Most guests like to turn in early, subscribing to the philosophy of "first to bed- first to shred".  After a good nights sleep lulled by the sounds of the surf  you'll be ready to do it all over again the next morning.
